About Jolaine Connolly - The Dreamtime Place: |
Jolaine (Jo) was born in Charleville in 1960 but grew up in Redcliffe, Queensland. She is the oldest of 3 children of the “Webster” family.
She attended Clontarf Beach State High School to Grade 12 after which she obtained her first job as a Real Estate Receptionist. During the next 10 years her work was primarily with Accounts and she gained sound accounting experience in Business. In 1986, Jo spent 10 months holidaying and working in both England and Europe.
On her return to Australia in 1987, Jo applied for a position of Legal/Secretary back home in Charleville where she then met my husband – Michael Connolly. After a short engagement they married in Charleville in 1988 and moved back to Redcliffe in 1989, where they still live. They now have 2 children – a son and daughter who have inherited the artistic skills of their father and cultural affiliation which Jo wholly supports and encourages.
| From her school days, Jo has always felt a strong association with Aboriginal Culture. At school, she was very active in sport and was part of the annual inter-school sports competitions with Murgon/Cherbourg. From this she developed strong and lasting friendships with indigenous people, with whom she felt comfortably "at home". This cultural fascination was further enhanced when she went overseas and had the chance to experience other cultures from many other parts of the world. |

Meeting Michael in Charleville only ignited her wonderment of this ancient culture and she became closely involved when Michael began his quest to become “re-acquainted” with his heritage.
This re-acquaintance resulted in the development of their business called – Dreamtime Kullilla-Art [Kullilla is Michael's father’s Tribal Group].
Since 1996, when their business was started, they have continued to enjoy the pleasure and fulfilment that owning a business with passion can bring, and they look forward to a long and rewarding future.
Jo is the Administrator for Dreamtime Kullilla-Art, [which has many different “umbrellas”].
Jo's quest in life is to assist in anyway I can the promotion of the most beautiful, magnificent, and oldest culture in the world – the Australian Aboriginal Culture & Heritage, as well her husband’s quest to be the very first Aboriginal Minister for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Affairs!
